Most people aren't aware that one of the first ingestible products that was the result of genetic modification (rDNA technology) was responsible for a deadly epidemic. The genetically engineered food supplement tryptophan produced by the "Showa Denko" company was directly responsible for death and serious harm to many U.S. Citizens by causing the EMS (Eosinophilia–myalgia syndrome) outbreak from 1984-1990.
